Graduation Assessments Information:

Literacy and Numeracy Assessments are a provincial assessment and a graduation requirement for students. The Literacy and Numeracy Assessments are not tied to Math and English classes specifically, rather, they evaluate mastery of a student’s literacy and numeracy skills over the course of their education.

Results will be reported using a four-category proficiency scale and will appear on a student’s transcript as a number, representing one of the four categories:

1 = emerging 3 = proficient
2 = developing 4 = extending

Results will appear in MyEdBC in the Assessment tab and students’ best outcome will be recorded on their final transcript. Universities and employers may be interested in a student’s assessment results, as evidence of their achievement in numeracy and literacy.

Students can write each assessment up to three times. Students wishing to rewrite any of their assessments need to request this via their school counsellor.

For students with an Individual Education Plan (IEP), the inclusive education team will work with to ensure that accommodations are supported during the assessment.
