Enrichment Opportunities for High School Students
BEAVERBROOK VIMY PRIZE
The Vimy Foundation offers a prestigious summer scholarship to youth 15-17 years of age, to study the interwoven history of Canada, France, and Great Britain during the First and Second World Wars. During the two week, fully-funded scholarship program, prize winners from Canada, Great Britain and France will visit key historical sites including lectures, visits to major museums, battlefields, cemeteries and memorials, including Vimy Ridge, where they will be introduced to ideas and viewpoints not typically taught in classrooms. The Beaverbrook Vimy Prize is awarded on the basis of essay submissions, reference letters, and motivation letters. Winners will take part in an intensive scholarship program in Europe, participating in educational seminars and museum events.
DA VINCI ENGINEERING ENRICHMENT PROGRAM (DEEP)
Run by the University of Toronto, DEEP is designed for highly motivated high school students with an aptitude for science and math. DEEP provides Grade 9 to 12 students from around the world with the opportunity for advanced study in a variety of engineering, technology, business and science disciplines.

Five-Week French-Language Bursary Program — Most expenses are covered! Are you looking for a spring or summer program to learn French? Do you want to discover another region of Canada and meet new people? Go Explore! Explore is a five-week intensive language-immersion program.
FORUM
Each year, Forum bring students (age 15 – 19) to Ottawa for a week of intensive academic adventure, immersing them in the exciting world of national politics and public affairs. Through discussions with today’s national leaders and decision-makers, as well as with their peers, students develop their critical thinking and active listening skills. Through simulation and role playing, Forum participants enhance their leadership skills, team building, and public speaking capabilities. The cost to attend is $895 and covers travel, accommodations, meals, and activities for the week. A limited number of bursaries are available.
HOUSE OF COMMONS PAGE PROGRAM
Headed to your first year of university in September? Would you like to meet people from all across Canada? Are you interested in the parliamentary system? Each year, 40 bilingual students from across Canada are chosen to live the action on Parliament Hill in Ottawa by assisting Members of Parliament and other House Officials with their work in the House of Commons.
JOHN F. WOOD SUMMER LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
The John F. Wood Summer Leadership Program, hosted in London, Ontario at the prestigious Ivey Business School, is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to make a meaningful impact in their future endeavors. Through a focus on business and leadership, participants will develop essential competencies such as critical thinking, emotional intelligence, public speaking, and team management. Additionally, students will gain valuable insight into successful pathways to post-secondary education, including the opportunity to experience the prestigious Ivey case method and engage in experiential learning over a four-day period. Furthermore, the program provides a valuable opportunity to establish connections with mentors and peers who share similar business interests.
OCEAN LITERACY LEADERSHIP CAMP
The Ocean Literacy & Leadership online course and in-person camp (on Hornby Island) will explore our personal leadership strengths which we can apply to being advocates for our ocean. In order to fully understand the ocean, we will be diving into the 7 Ocean Literacy Principles which help us understand the ocean’s influence on you—and your influence on the Ocean. There will be opportunities to explore the wonders of the ocean and to self reflect on the personal choice’s you make in your life and how it directly effects the health of the ocean. The leadership component will have a solutions-based focus and will help prepare you for the final culminating Action Project to take back to your school and/or community.
RISD CONTINUING EDUCATION
Rhode Island School of Design Continuing Education offers hundreds of non-credit courses, workshops and lectures in all aspects of art and design for adults, teens and kids. Many courses are offered online.
SHAD CANADA
Started in Aurora, Ontario in 1981 as Shad Valley, Shad Canada now offers a widespread STEAM and entrepreneurship program for grade 10 & 11 students. This experiential program is offered at university campuses across Canada and has benefited more than 20,000 Shads who are part of our alumni network. With a limited number of spots available every year, there is a selection process in place to determine participants.
STUDENTS ON ICE
Students on Ice offers educational youth expeditions to the Polar Regions. For the past 15 years, Students on Ice has taken over 2,500 students, scientists, educators, elders, artists, musicians, historians and business leaders to the Arctic and Antarctic. SOI is globally recognized as the world’s pioneer in educational youth expeditions and leader in Polar Education.

The Youth Excellence Society offers a variety of leadership camps and retreats for students.
Summer Leadership Camps… The YES offers Roots programs for 14-16 year olds, and Pathways programs for 16-18 year olds. Expand your leadership and team building skills while canoeing, hiking, swimming, and connecting with youth from around the province. Experience a summer camp like non other.
Leadership Retreats… The Student Leadership Retreat is a unique opportunity for members of leadership teams and student councils from all over BC to interact, share, and develop new skills. This fun-filled 3-day retreat features workshops, guest speakers, and discussions around the nature of leadership & project development.
UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO YOUTH SUMMER PROGRAMS IN LAW & MEDICINE
During the Law YSP, students currently enrolled in grades 10 through 12 can spend between one and six weeks at the Faculty of Law discussing advanced legal concepts, learning about the reality of the Canadian legal system, and applying their knowledge in a variety of stimulating environments. From its home in the University of Toronto’s Medical Sciences Building, in the heart of Toronto’s “Medical Discovery District”, the Med YSP offers students currently enrolled in grades 10 and 11 four unique one-week modules that each introduces a major medical discipline.
UWC SHORT COURSES & SUMMER PROGRAMS

In just one to three of the most exciting weeks of your life, you’ll experience the opportunity to: pursue a passion to progress global peace and sustainability, work on a campaign, cause or immerse yourself in a new community, develop your leadership and changemaker skills. Their short courses and summer programmes offer you everything that makes the UWC movement and school experience unique, but without the academic programme. On your short course, you will explore, live and share experiences with 30-60 other students from around the world. You will leave with new friends, new views, new skills, and a renewed belief that you can change communities for the better.
