TASK – Metal work (WEX2A/TSTB-2A/TSTB-2B/TMAW-12)

Trades Awareness Skills and Knowledge (TASK) is a 5-month, full time, hands-on metal program offered at EMCS in the second semester, in partnership with Camosun College. Metal work focused Trades Awareness Skills and Knowledge (TASK) dual credit course is a full-time semester cohort class that will take place from September to end of January. Students will take trades focused courses at both EMCS and Camosun College – Interurban Campus. At EMCS, instruction will focus on metal fabrication and welding in both a shop and classroom setting. While at Camosun College, students will sample several trades courses which could include sheet metal, heavy duty mechanics, plumbing and electrical. Additionally, all students will be required to participate in a trade-focused work experience program at a local business or company. Work experience has many benefits including on-the-job training and mentorship, employability skills, and possible future employment opportunities. Safety will be a primary focus at all education and work sites. Students will earn up to 16 credits to put towards high school graduation and 8 additional credits at Camosun College.
