Learning Support
CORE 10: SOCIAL STUDIES, ENGLISH AND SCIENCE
The Core Program was established to support students who have struggled with the core academic courses. This program is designed to help students acquire the basic skills and knowledge to complete academic courses using a self-paced model with a focus on teaching AVID strategies. The CORE program offers instruction in English 10, Social Studies 10, and Science 10. Students are expected to complete a course in one semester but in special circumstances, the time can be extended to two semesters. Selection of students is based on recommendations from counsellors, teachers and administrators.

Learning About Learning is a course for students who require additional support and practice to enhance their learning and success in school. This course provides students the opportunity to begin to develop work ethic, study skills, and learning strategies

Skills for Life/Modified
SKILLS FOR LIFE PROGRAM 9-12 (XSIEP0A)
The Skills for Life program provides individualized learning opportunities for students with complex developmental and/or intellectual needs. Students in the Skills for Life program receive highly specialized programming designed to foster independence at school, home and in the community. Each student’s program focusses on developing functional academics, social skills, independent living skills, and interacting with the local community. Selection for this program is made through the Student Support Services Department.
Peer Tutoring 12 (YIPS-2AYT)
Peer tutoring provides students with the opportunity to explore and develop their own skills and talents, and to provide an understanding of people and how they learn. For students planning to enter the field of education, this course provides practical experience. Students in this program will participate in teaching mini-lessons to peers, analyzing learning styles, and understanding the cultural variances of learners. This program is open to grade 12 students who can apply through the Inclusive Education Services department here
