EXTERNAL SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES

These are ones you do NOT turn in to Mr. Phipps.  For EXTERNAL awards, follow the instructions in the EMCS Awards database and information provided by the award sponsor.  If they give you the option to submit your application by email or online, that is probably the best option.   If an email address is provided, you may want to consider using myBlueprint to assemble your application in a portfolio.  See instructions below.  For some you will need to mail your applications. See the instructions below regarding how to access your own transcript.

SCHOOL & LOCAL SCHOLARSHIPS AND BURSARIES

These are ones that you DO turn in to Mr. Phipps.  For SCHOOL and LOCAL awards, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the necessity for social distancing, we ask that students submit their applications to Mr. Phipps electronically.  There are two options for doing this:

Option 1:   myBlueprint.  This is the recommended and easiest approach.

  1. Get your documents ready…   Start by getting all compents of your applications saved on your computer as separate PDFs.  For documents you’ve created like your scholarship resume and letter of application, you should be able to save or print to PDF.   For things you have on paper like letters of reference or paper application forms you’ve filled out, you will need to scan the documents to PDF.  If you don’t have a scanner, iphones, ipads, etc. usually have an app that can scan to PDF.

  2. Get your transcript…   Log on to your Student Transcripts Service (STS) account.  On your dashboard, click “View Your Transcript”.  You will have the option to save/print a PDF of your transcript.  Save the PDF of your transcript on your computer.
  3. Log into your myBlueprint account…  Select the “school account login” button. This allows you to log in with the same user name and password you use for school computers and wifi.  Email Mr. Phipps if you have problems logging in.
  4. Create Portfolios….     Make a Portolio in myBlueprint for each of your scholarhip/bursary applications.  Name each portfolio with your name and the name of the scholarship e.g. “J. Hart – District Scholarship
  5. Create Boxes…   For each application portfolio, create a “box” for each required component of the application.  Name each box according to what it contains e.g. “Application Form”, “Scholarship Resume”, “Letter of Application”, “Reference Letter”, etc.  You can then drag the boxes within the portfolio to put them in the right order.
  6. Share Portfolio…   Click the “Share” button at the top right of the screen.  This will generate an email link that you can send to Mr. Phipps. (aphipps@sd62.bc.ca)

Option 2:  Scan and email.

  1. Get your transcript…   Log on to your Student Transcripts Service (STS) account.  On your dashboard, click “View Your Transcript”.  You will have the option to print your transcript.
  2. Organize…   Prepare your applications on paper.
  3. Scan…    For each scholarship application package, scan the entire application (with everything in the right order) into a single PDFOne PDF per application.  Name the file with your name and the name of the scholarship e.g. “R. Smith_ Rotary Scholarship“.  If you don’t have a scanner, you can use your phone or ipad to scan documents to PDF.

  4. Email…   Send the PDF of your application to Mr. Phipps.  (aphipps@sd62.bc.ca)   Include your name and the scholarship name in the subject line.  Email ONE application package at a time.

Option 3:  Paper application packages.   This is only for those students who are not able to submit SCHOOL and LOCAL scholarship/bursary applications by one of the two methods above.

Mr. Phipps will be at EMCS (one of the exterior gym doors at the front of the school) from 9:00am to 3:00pm on the following days to receive paper applications for SCHOOL and LOCAL awards. Whenever possible we ask that parents drop off applications.

  • April 24  (8 Local awards have an April 24 deadline.  You are welcome to turn in applications for other SCHOOL and LOCAL awards that day if you like.)
  • May 4

  • Maintain social distancing of at least two metres at all times.
  • Arrive exactly at your scheduled appointment time.
  • Do not come to the school if you have any of the following symptoms:  cough, fever, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties.
