Spanish 9 is taught using a communicative/experiential approach. Emphasis is on vocabulary building, pronunciation and developing interpersonal communication skills. Various authentic sources are used in order for students to gain an appreciation of Spanish culture, music and literature. Themes may include leisure activities, family, school, sports and food. All four aspects of language learning will be evaluated (speaking, listening, reading and writing) through projects, tests, quizzes and oral presentations.

All four aspects of language learning will be evaluated (speaking, listening, reading and writing) through projects, tests, quizzes and oral presentations.

Spanish 12 is taught using a content-based approach, where students learn language while learning about Hispanic and Latino culture. Emphasis is on authentic communication in all skill areas. Students will expand their repertoire of grammatical structures which will allow them to communicate more precisely about a wider range of topics.
