We are pleased to announce that online bus registration for the 2017/18 school year will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 and will remain open until Friday, June 2, 2017. Similar to last year’s registration process, we will only be accepting online registrations through the School Cash Online account process – if you haven’t already done so, you will be required to set up an account in order to register for bussing services for the 2017/18 school year.  Please use this link to access or set up a School Cash Online account https://sd62.schoolcashonline.com.

Bus registration will be open until June 2nd at which time routes will be established and communicated to registered riders. Riders registering after this date will be assigned routes only if space is available.

Students will not be provided bussing unless they have registered for this service.

At their April 25th meeting, the Board of Education confirmed the following:

There will be no transportation fees charged for the 2017/18 school year

  • The District will provide a total of 29 routes, which is up one from the 2016/17 school year
  • The 29 routes will provide service to approximately 3,300 riders or roughly one third of our student population based on the 2016/17 service levels

I would like to quickly update you about the status of the school bus refunds. The remaining bus refunds are continuing to be processed. While we hope to have most processed by Monday, October 31, it may take up to the end of next week to be processed by the different financial institutions.

There is a short time delay between the time and day we put through the refund, compared to the time it is actually processed through the bank or credit union.

Our apologies for the delay – you will get your full refund. Please continue to check your bank or credit card statements for refund notification. You may receive your refund in more than one or two portions.

Thanks again for your patience as we do our best to get these refunds back to you as quickly as possible.

SD62 bus registration closure, refunds and passes

Dear Parents/Guardians,

 

Please read the following email about the SD62 school bus carefully as it regards:

  • Registration closure
  • Refunds
  • Passes

 

Registration Closure

 

Registration for this 2016/2017 school year closes on Monday, October 17 at 9 p.m.

Due to a very high volume of riders, our buses are at or are nearing their capacities. All registration must be completed online. Please don’t wait until the very last minute to register! All registrations will be placed on a wait list. Link to online registration.

 

Those who registered outside of the registration window last spring are wait listed and may be asked to move to a different bus if the bus they currently ride is full. Riders not registered will not be allowed on the bus.

 

Refunds

 

Our goal is to have all refunds completed by October 31.

Our Finance Department has processed more than 1000 refunds, but they still have nearly 1000 more to complete. The system was not designed to handle so many refunds at once, so there are daily limits to what we can put through for refunds. As a result, you may receive more than one refund. Please continue to check your credit card and bank statements for refund notification. Our goal is to have all refunds completed by October 31. You will receive your refund via the same method you paid, so by credit card or e-cheque.

 

Bus Passes – Middle and Secondary students only

 

Students must present their passes each time they load a bus. 

Permanent bus passes will be issued to registered riders over the next few weeks. Until then, please continue to use the temporary bus passes assigned. Drivers will be diligent in checking for these.

Please read the contents of this email carefully as it details both new registrations as well as refund information for those who have already registered and paid.

 

With the announcement that bus fees for all SD62 school bus riders will be eliminated this school year, we have had an increase in registrations and riders.

 

If you would like to register your child for the school bus, all registration is online. Please visit the Transportation page of our website for instructions on how to complete your online registration.

ALL RIDERS MUST BE REGISTERED

 

With more than 2700 riders, some of our buses are reaching their capacity. If your child is not registered to ride the school bus, he or she may not be let on the bus. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Drivers will be checking their lists and for temporary bus passes.

 

Additional buses and routes will not be added.

 

*Only students in middle and secondary school have temporary passes. Students in elementary school will be placed on a rider list for the driver to check off.

 

Once you have registered:

 

All new registrants will be placed on a wait list. Since we need to work through the wait list, there may be a waiting period of up to a week. Your school will notify you once your child has a seat on the bus.

 

REFUNDS

 

An automated email was sent out last night regarding October 1 payments. We apologize for the confusion. Our team is currently at work processing more than 2700 refunds and we are doing our best to get them done by October 1. Unfortunately, the system wasn’t designed to do a blanket stop payment across the board so we are having to process the refunds in smaller batches.
